A look at your teeth, gums and the soft tissue in your mouth, and a written note of what we find.
What it is
An examination is a look and a written record, not a treatment. We go over
each tooth with a mirror and a probe, then your gums, then the soft tissue in
your mouth and the outside of your jaw and neck.
If you agree to them we take two small x-rays, which show the places a mirror
cannot reach: between the teeth and under old fillings.
At the end we go through what we found on the screen with you. If something
needs doing we say what it is, how long it takes and what it costs, and you
take that away and think about it. Nothing is booked at the desk without
being asked.
Questions about this treatment
Is this the same as a check-up?
Yes. Some practices call it one and some the other; it is the same appointment.
Will you clean my teeth at the same time?
Not usually. The clean is a separate appointment with the hygienist because it takes as long again.
This is informational; consult your dentist for diagnosis and treatment.
